Why we exist

Most of the places where contemporary art gets seen run on the same filters: who you know, where you studied, how many followers you have. We think the work itself should carry more weight than any of that.

Ruri Gallery is our attempt to build a different kind of platform — one where every submission to an open call gets looked at individually, and where being selected depends on what you made, not who introduced you.

How it works

A few times a year, we open an international call for contemporary painting and graphic art. Submissions are free and open to artists at any stage, anywhere in the world. Every entry is reviewed on its own terms.

Selected artists are featured in a curated digital exhibition, given a profile on Ruri Gallery, and included in a PDF catalog distributed to grow awareness of contemporary painting and graphic art internationally. We don't promise a permanent place on the site to everyone who applies — we promise a fair, individual look, and a real outcome for the artists we select.

Who's behind it

Ruri Gallery is founded and curated independently — no gallery, fund, or institution behind it. That's a deliberate choice: it keeps the curatorial judgment direct, and the platform answerable to the artists and audience it serves, not to a board.

As the platform grows, so will the way we work — but the starting principle stays the same: look at the work first.

What we hold to

01

Curatorial integrity

Every submission is reviewed on its own merits. Selection is a judgment about the work, never a transaction.

02

Independence

No gallery, sponsor, or institution shapes what we select. That keeps the curatorial line ours to answer for.

03

International by design

Contemporary painting and graphic art don't belong to one city or scene. Our open calls are open to artists anywhere.

Have a question?

Whether it's about the current open call, the platform, or something else — we read everything that comes in.
